Default London Nexus Lose Brandon Short

Bshort5.com Press Release

1 July

Today I’m announcing my departure from professional paintball team, Nexus.
Since 2007 I’ve been traveling overseas to play in the Millennium Series with DYE’s European flagship team, Nexus. The team had just left Eclipse and had signed a deal with DYE. Dave Youngblood had Mikko Huttunen and I join the team in an attempt to Click the image to open in full size.get the squad on the right tract. The 2007 season was a very successful season to say the least. We never snatched a 1st place victory, but we were always on the hunt. The first season was the “Rebuild” and the following season was the year of “Results”. 2008 started off a little rocky, but around mid season the sun soon appeared. Mikko was no longer playing on the team and I was the only non-European player. We won the World Cup Championship in Toulouse, France, beating out the All-Americans from the NXL. It was a major step for the team’s confidence and respect from our peers. The next event was Germany, which we did well at but didn’t win. Then came the last event in Paris, which we won. Nexus was the only team that season to win 2 events.
It’s now 2009 and already it’s mid-season. It’s very unfortunate that I have to leave the team, especially before the 2009 season is over. However, this game is a business and business was going bad. I no longer felt I was a part of the team. This is understandable, especially since I live on the other side of the world. Many Americans go over seas and “Guest” for teams, but they are typically never more then “Guest”. I truly believe that I was on Nexus, and when anybody would ask what team I played for, I would tell them, “I play for the Ironmen in the States and Nexus in Europe”. I made some great friends and I will never forget how much fun we had over the past few years. I wish the team all the luck and success in the future.
As for me, I have to wait until the 2009 season is over to rejoin another pro team, because the rosters are locked. However, I can’t wait to get back to Europe and compete in the Millennium series. I feel I have a lot to prove and I’m becoming very motivated in the mean time….

He realised Jason couldn't drink to save his life and didn't wanna be associated with him?

Brandon Short is immense. Nexus will definately suffer from loosing him (as would any team).

I watched him in toulouse a couple of years ago quite simply destroying entire teams from the snake, as in 5 g's to Brandon by himself. He's in a totally different league.

On his day he is arguably the best snake player around. A big miss for any team.
With the rosters locked Nexus won't be able to fill his shoes.
Unless Wee Dave has double registered .

It just wasnt meant to be for Shorty this year with Nexus. There is no love lost with him and the team it just wasnt working out. Real shame but like alot of the tough things this team has been through we will adapt and thrive.

Back in 2007 Brandon was by far the best player in the millenium series and he really did help the team on and off the field to get it up to where we are now.
Our wins in 2008 were deffinately a team deal as everyone played out of their skins to beat everyone we faced in Toulouse and Paris. I have learned that you cannot win Pro events if even 1 of the 5 is playing weak. Everyone has to be ontop of their game for the whole event.

Jason Wheeler now has the chance to prove that he is a world class snake player for us and i think he went a long way to doing so this past weekend. Im sure anyone who saw us play would say the same, the kid did great.
We took 2nd in CPL for Malaga event, and 4th for the Paris event loosing to the Chilli Peppers who were on a whole nother level this past weekend.

I hope you guys can get behind us for the final push of the season.

Was great meeting most of the Reapers out there! Congrats for the result guys

Tommy
