Agreed, I think most of the guys here overreacted through dissapointment more than anything else. I have to say as well I am impressed that you managed to keep a proffessional composure through the critisism. I'm sure it'll still be a good day out, but its understandable people being dissapointed that there 200-1200 Euro marker has to sit at home while they shoot rentals thats all.

Re: split topic - Frontier Paintball Update
hey guys mark here just to let ye kno ill prob b marshalling with you guys next wknd some of you might kno me from crossfire where i used to work or from the DIT team that won the intervarsities. ... i kno its crap that at this time we cant use privately owned markers but from what i know about the irish paintballing scene is that not many places will let you use them.. except of course barrage but i am unsure of the legality of this.. as an owner of a marker i kno that it feels like a such a waste leaving your (in most cases) expensive marker at home but at this time markers are classed as a ballistic weapon as it can break the skin.. . this is to say the least a frustating law that needs to be changed and from talking to some key irish paintball people that have tried to get the law changed - it is some years away from happening --- so dont hold your breath..
Frontier has only been open for about 6 weeks now and has been visited by the gardai as many times so the chances of sneaking in 10 odd markers would be of great risk and little gain to the company...
the markers we have are brand new out of the box and in some cases only used about 5 times.. each markers is cared for like each one is our own and strictly checked...
hpa is used and after each game marshalls fill every marker to 3000 psi...
its hard to sound impartial when i work for the company but trust me when i say you guys will be looked after...

Totally agree with Slice on that one. The important people trying to change the Law are the IPPA and its members. Did you mean the IPPA and members are not important or do you mean you were speaking to high government official's who would'nt know the difference between a chicken and a Tippmann A-5.
If you are going to say something Mark, it is better to say it in full or not at all. becuase it sounds like you are trying to make excuses for something that Guppy has already explained quite well on her own,.

ah, i think the poor ould frontier people are getting a hard time. i always want an opportunity to use my marker, and especially after it's been upgraded, but i'd say they're still trying to sort stuff out, being such a new site. i know crossfire have had the gards down on them for allowing own markers on site, and i'd say it's hard enough setting up a new business without that hassle. that said, i hope they'll work to accomodate our gear in future, and i'm VERY interested to hear who these "key irish paintball people" are...

Re: split topic - Frontier Paintball Update
no of course im not saying the IPPA is not important, the key people i talk of are owners of various paintball sites some of which have been open 15 years and in the case of crossfire i know that its owner has been lobying since then for a change in laws... seriously trying for years in and out of court.....

Re: split topic - Frontier Paintball Update
The issue with Crossfire was a polish guy had an unregistered marker and when asked to supply his authorisation could not do it. as a result the marker was taken and he complained to crossfire, as a result they banned the markers,.
Its understandable new marshals are not going to be able to check bps ect but it is alittle confusing to here (and Thankyou Guppy for your explanations on everything.)
But as guppy is Marks boss its funny that he has sponken to high people looking to change the law when most people in high places dont even know there is an issue. Except for us.

Re: split topic - Frontier Paintball Update
when i said key people -- i meant the main people that have been there trying to change the law (in the past)>> as we know it is not a new issue that private markers are not allowed...
Guppy however is a senior to me but not my direct boss who lives here in ireland.. she would be used to her laws in the UK where she is from.. privately owned markers are not such an issue there. i have been marshalling for just over 4 years and as i havnt been campaigning for a change in laws i have spoken to people who have and who have had no success...

Re: split topic - Frontier Paintball Update
Again Mark , Who have you been talking to ?
I understand what you are saying but you are being very vague.
