Forum Guidelines (Rules)

The following guidelines are for the safe and efficient running of the PaintBaller.ie Forums. Going against the guidelines below will result in an immediate and permanent ban from the PaintBaller.ie Forum and other websites.

No pornography or links to sites with pornography.
This website is not limited to persons 18 and older. No obvious nudity, exposed genitals or female nipples. Links to pornography or links to sites with pornography are a bannable offense. This includes indirect links, photos or videos with the url linked or displayed.

We allow members to post images of persons who are wearing very little clothing but do not qualify as pornography. Those images will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and can be removed at the discretion of a staff member.

Racism, discriminatory remarks
Links to racist websites, racist pictures or racist language including slang on our site is not allowed. Discrimination will not be tolerated and will result in an immediate ban.

Member Account Ownership and Creation
Only one account per person is allowed. In certain cases with permission, a company or group may set up a separate account to deal with issues regarding an event or company sales and marketing.

PaintBaller.ie accounts are non-transferable and may not be sold, shared or given away.

Creating a second account to attempt to circumvent an account ban is not allowed and will result in an immediate IP Ban.

Creating an account to impersonate someone else e.g. a company representative, an admin or moderator is not allowed and a bannable offence

Spam
Do not spam PaintBaller.ie in any way. We sell ads if you want to promote your product, team or website.

Non-sanctioned contests, money making schemes, lottery contests, referral sites (both links and games) are not permitted. Pyramid schemes are scams, don't work, and nobody here wants to hear about them. They are considered spam and are not allowed.

Linking to viruses, referral sites, or maliciously coded websites either in your signature or in your post is a ban able offence

Infraction Offences

The following guide lines are to ensure that all members enjoy their time on the PaintBaller.ie Forums. Going against the following guidelines will result in a user infraction. Two infractions will result in ia ban for a period time.

Appropriate content
Adult content is defined as content that may not be pornographic, but is descriptive, or graphic is some what that is un suitable for people under 18 years of age. Obvious jokes are one thing and are allowd, but serious stuff is not allowed.

Adult content is prohibited. Because the forums are family friendly, discussion or linking of adult sites is prohibited by the TOS.

Links to adult content and/or posting of jokes or comments of an adult nature in either forum posts or user profile are prohibited.

All links to adult content, within forum posts will be immediately deleted and the posters will be issued an official warning from staff.

Adult links located within your user profile will be deleted by the administrator.

In general, remember that these forums can be viewed by all ages and not just adults. Sexual, Racist Items or links to explicit material will be removed and if this is repeated then action will be taken against the poster.

Think of PaintBaller.ie as a PG-13 web site. If you want to post material that wouldn't be allowed in a PG-13 movie, then it is not appropriate here.

Defamation and Libel
Posting Libel comments about a person or company is unfiar and illegal. If some one makes serious comments or slanders with out proof, the comments will be deleted and an infraction given.

More information on libel
http://www.paintballer.ie/deleted-to...g-reviews.html

Swearing
Do not bypass or attempt to bypass the swear filter. The filters will catch most words, but intentionally replacing letter(s) with a * or -, misspelling a word, spacing out words or avoiding the swear filter in any way will result in an infraction

Use of pictures or videos of banned words in avatars or signatures to deliveratly appear to be swearing count as avoiding the filter.

Although to keep in line with YouTube community guidelines, swearing can not be totally controlled in all pictures and videos, specially if they are humours and light hearted in nature. However, these can all be removed if a Mod feels that they are of bad taste or serious in nature.

Trolling
No body likes a troll under their bridge, so don't do it. Do not make posts that are inflammatory, or designed to get people riled up. Substance is the key to not being labelled a troll. If you disagree with someone or something, simply say why.

Absolutely NO flaming or Flame baiting. Posts containing hostile language or rudeness directed at staff or other members will not be tolerated. Posts made with the intent to solicit a hostile response constitutes Flame Baiting and will not be Tolerated.

Harassing other users by having a continuous negative or bitter attitude towards them.

General rule of thumb, if you have nothing good to say, then say nothing.

Personal attacks

These are usually caused by discussions turning into serious arguments as mentioned above. Please think before posting anything that would be defined as this sort of attack. For example "Username is an idiot" Personal attacks are not welcome on these forums and will be dealt with firmly.

Arguments
There is a fine line between discussion and argument which is at times hard to define. In general a discussion becomes an argument when the postings become personal and if this starts to become obvious then the Moderators will take necessary action which may include removal or locking of posts.

We encourage debating and discussion, however we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts, period.

Personal Privacy
Do not post other's phone numbers, addresses, pictures, instant messenger aliases, email addresses, etc., without their permission. Respect the privacy of others. PaintBaller.ie reserves the right to release such information if need be in accordance with the Privacy Policy

Copyright
Do not post any material that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner(s) of said copyright, trademark or other proprietary right. This includes posting links to or requesting illegal software

Banned members
Being banned includes not using another members account or log on details to access the forums or asking another member to post on their behalf. This action could have consequences for the other forum member.

Avatars and Signatures

The forum moderators reserve the right to ask any member to change their Avatar and/or Signature, should they feel that it is inappropriate, or does not comply with the following guidelines:

Avatar size should be limited to 80 x 80 pixels for regular members and 120 x 120 pixels for Annual Supporting Members.

Signatures should use no more space than 4 lines of standard sized text would. Image based signatures should be limited to 400 x 100 pixels and follow the rest on the guidelines in terms on content. Only one image is allowed.

Certain signature images that are available for use on the Internet reveal information like your IP Address and Browser. These are not allowed on the forums as some more inexperienced users feel that these are in some way breaching their security and privacy.

User removal of a moderators note
If a moderator leaves a note in a post, this must not be removed. They are left so the forum community knows what has happened to the post, and why the moderator has carried out any action. Hence, we treat this unofficial removal very seriously.

This list is none exhaustive and may be updated from time to time without notice.

Forum Manners and Equitte

  • Double Posting - Click the image to open in full size. your posts to add more content
  • Making multiple short posts (five words or less) over a short time period.
  • Attempting to smartass your way around these rules.
  • No Text Speek
  • Typing in ALL CAPITALS

Impoliteness toward forum staff
This is when someone impolitely argues against any of the forum staff.

Remaking or complaining about a locked or deleted thread by creating a new thread.

Complaining or boasting about any ban, including comments in signature text.

Backseat modding: pointing out what needs to be deleted, banned, locked or destroyed.

Think before posting
Before creating new threads, please use the Search feature. You may find that your issue/topic has already been addressed.

Look before posting to ensure you are posting in the correct section.

Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.

All questions pertaining to sections or use of this forum should be posted in the appropriate areas, and not sent as PM's or Email's to the Admin or Mods.

Do not start threads directed solely towards another user. Use the private message function to contact individuals.

Post content in the appropriate forum. Read the forum stickies, or ask a moderator if you are uncertain of the correct forum to post to.

Don’t post meaningless or useless posts e.g. ‘lol’, ‘pawned’ etc. Unless the topic at hand give way to such posts. These are mainly I the Water Cooler Section.

Cross Posting
We do not allow 'cross posting' where a user posts the same text in more than one forum. This wastes resources as forum users have to read posts twice. It also causes confusion to the original poster as they may well find that replies are disjointed over 2 or more threads.

These duplicate post will be deleted or merged.

Thread Jacking
Thread hi-jacking will not be tolerated. All posters must respect the rights of other members to post questions, comments and ideas that do not agree with their own. Please keep your posts "on topic" i.e. relevant to the subject(s) of the thread.

Off Topic Posts (OT)
It is inevitable that threads in forums can veer off course from the original topic. Rather than drag a thread off topic, you should start a new thread in the appropriate forum and post a link in the original thread.

Please note that reasonable deviations from a topic's starting point are allowed, if discussions on the topic's original subject have finished.

There are areas dedicated to getting to know each other and chatting, of course you are free and to post anything in .

Any posts that are irrelevant to the topic will be moved or deleted.

Timely Response
When you post asking for help, allow other members time to respond. Repeatedly "bumping" your post without allowing sufficient time for someone to respond constitutes spamming and will result in the post being locked.

Post Language, Fonts, Formatting, Colours and TXT Talk

All posts are required to be in English unless in a language specific forum

TXT talk is NOT acceptable. Do not type with tlk that iz hrd for ppl to read. The LOL or expression talk. OMG, etc. is acceptable, but spell out your woruds, Your-NOT ur, etc.

Keep the use of coloured text formatting colors to a minimum. Not everyone uses the same style, so text made to be blue with the [color=blue] tag in one style may not be readable to everyone in another style.

Do not post in all capital letters. These can be annoying not only because in general "netiquette" they represent shouting, but the letters are also harder for the human brain to distinguish, thus making them harder to read. Therefore, posting in all caps is not permitted and posts in all caps will be deleted.

Do not be offended if we decide to move/axe one of your posts.

Think before Posting flashing or strobe images, or picture spamming: repeatedly posting the same picture or posting irrelevant / overused images such as the FAIL picture.

No Rick Rolling
